iPad Pre-Orders Tomorrow at 5:30am PST!
Well, it seems that the day has finally come for ordering your iPads. TUAW reports that orders will begin tomorrow online at Apple.com at 5:30am PST. Rumor has it that only 2 iPads will be available for each customer order, and that you will be able to reserve one for pickup in your local Apple store.
Can anyone say site slow down at Apple.com tomorrow morning? :)
Apple Announces iPad Availability Dates.
Apple announces that the iPad will be available in the US on April 3rd and that pre-ordering online and in-store will begin on March 12th. In addition, 3G versions of the iPad will be available in late April, but either one will be able to be ordered on March 12th.
International availability for Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK will also happen in late April.
The iBook store will be ready for the April 3rd launch.
Seems like some of the rumors that said the iPad might not make it until April were correct.
Steve Jobs and Walt Mossberg Chat - New iPad Information
Walt Mossberg got a chance to speak with Steve Jobs after the iPad was presented on Wednesday and a video was recorded. All Things Digital. A transcript of the conversation is below… the good parts start at 2:00 on the scroll
Mossberg: "Why should she buy a book for $14.99 on your device when she can buy one for $9.99 on Amazon on the Kindle or from Barnes & Noble on the Nook?"
Jobs: "Well that won't be the case..."
Mossberg: "You mean you won't be $14.99 or they won't be $9.99?"
Jobs: "Uh...the prices will be the same."
Jobs: "The publishers are withholding books from Amazon cuz they're not happy with the..."
Jobs: "A bit more than 10 hours..."
Mossberg: "Really?"
Jobs: "Ya."
Mossberg: "Music, a lot more than 10 hours?"
Jobs: "Oh ya, music, it is, uh...140-something hours, I think...of contiguous music playback."
Mossberg: "140? And reading? What about reading?"
Jobs: *Inaudible*
Mossberg: "Its over 10? Because you know Amazon's is measured in days..."
Jobs: "Its all about the display...our chips don't use hardly any power."
Mossberg: "But that's the key, you're doing an ebook reader that isn't using e-ink that gives you really beautiful color and led..."
Jobs: "And you can read at night..."
Mossberg: "I get it, but on the other hand, there's a battery cost to that..."
Jobs: "You know there isn't...cuz you just end up...plugging it in. I mean you just end up docking it or whatever you're gonna do with it...its not a big deal. I mean, 10 hours is a long time, you're not gonna read for 10 hours"
Mossberg: "So should I write my review of this on this?"
Jobs: "Sure. Get Pages and write it in Pages."
Mossberg: "I could save it as a Word doc like on a Mac?"
Jobs: "Yes, you can."
Mossberg: "And then send, cuz believe me, the editors don't know anything about Pages, the onkly know about docs."
Jobs: "You could export it to...you could make a Word version...write it in Pages and make a Word version and send it in an email to your editors."
Mossberg: "All from here?"
Jobs: "Ya."

Movie Wedge Review
Every once in a while, a product comes along that you see and say to yourself "why didn't I think of that". That is what happened to me when I got my hands on the Movie Wedge.
Basically, the Movie Wedge is a minature bean bag with a triangular shape and a thick bottom lip. After placing the Wedge on your desk, lap, dashboard, whatever, you can place your iphone on it and it will hold it at a 45 degree angle for easy viewing. The iPhone/Touch can be placed either vertically or horizonatally so it works well for both movies and / or GPS.
I thought I would test the Movie Wedge in my car using one of the GPS applications recently released to see how well it held up on my dashboard. After doing some pretty serious turns (don't ask how fast, but my small, light Turbo engine can really push some torque around those u-turns), I was very surprised to see that the Movie Wedge didn't move, or let go of my iPhone.
After picking up some other items that had fallen off during my turns, I decided to put the Movie Wedge on my center panel and realized what I liked most about this iPhone accessory. The fact that its a bean bag type of design means that it will "mold" its shape to all of the curves and awkward spaces of my cars interior. This makes it hold its place pretty well. Of course after testing it in the car, all the other places (table, desk, lap), easily keep the Movie Wedge stable.
The other thing I liked about the design is the material that is used. Is a very soft microfiber type of material, which cleans the screen pretty well.
Its definately worth the $9.95 retail price, and if your like me and like to prop up your phone in the car or when your watching something on YouTube, the MovieWedge is a must!
If you want to pick one up, you can do that online at www.MovieWedge.com.
Welcome To MMS...
Well, I can't say that I'm not excited to have it, but after 2 years of not having it, and everyone else having it, its sort of bitter sweet. I know our non-US readers must be thinking "Who Cares! We've had this since day 1, why would Apple have picked AT&T in the first place?". I think we all remember the reason for that right? No one else would give Apple their 100% creative freedom, especially when it came to logos (Verizon wanted to private label the iPhone).
To be honest, I almost have to think about MMS being available now before using it. After trying it with a few friends (some on T-Mobile), most of them got my MMS, but surprisingly a few didn't. Is AT&T still working the kinks out? Will they be fixed by the end of the weekend? Whatever it is, I'm glad its finally here, and now we can bitch about getting tethering... Have you used it yet? Any troubles?
