User Rating:When an app is called AeroGuitar Samurai Rock and its splash screen includes a picture of two demons playing guitar at each other, it commands my attention.
The guitar licks that are played with each click are hilarious. A WiFi connection is required to even start the game because certain free songs must be download to continue onto play. Other songs are offered at a fee. Hey, developers have to eat as well. It’s funny how the free music offered for guitar is from Bach and Mozart, each of whom traditionally played the piano. All this is annoying, however, since the music samples should be available for play the moment the game is starting and should be included in the installation.
The game itself follows in the tradition of Tap Tap Revenge, Guitar Hero and Rock Band in which you throw some sort of flaming circles at your opponent (whether it’s the computer or another player. The game has multi-player capability) which have to be blocked to the beat of the music. The person who gets hit the most loses. Pretty simple stuff, huh?
Overall, the game is underwhelming. While the application uses stunning visuals and cool guitar licks for sound, it’s still the same old game. That combined with the annoyance of having to download songs simply to play the game makes me want to find something else to play..
Quick Take
Value:Medium-low.
Would I Buy Again:Probably not.
Learning Curve:Low, unless you don't have WiFi in which case it's impossible to play.
Who Is It For:Those that can't locate Tap Tap Revenge.
What I Like:Good visuals.
What I Don't Like:You have to download a song simply to start playing. That should be pre-installed.
Final Statement:I would put the guitar down and find other games.
