Longing for the good ol’ days is a common theme in apps these days. At least thats how I felt when I started up ‘Aliens Invade’.
As you may have guessed from the name of the app, it’s a clone of Space Invaders. And in general they do a great job recreating the feel of the old coin-op version of space invaders. (It’s scary that I remember dropping quarters into a space invaders game and marveling at the great graphics.)
Like your typical space invaders,there’s the marching aliens that go side to side and lower and lower with each row. Destroy them before they destroy you.
The game play is good—with arrow buttons used to move your character back and forth. The round button is for firing. If you can remember the old coin op, this is the exact same layout.
Aliens Invade does have a couple of tricks up it’s sleeve though. After killing something, a parachute falls down, and if you catch it, you’ll get 1 of 5 different powerups –rapid fire, a ‘blasting’ missile, shield, homing missle, and my favorite, the laser beam. But each powerup is good for only a certain amount of time, so use them wisely.
Aliens Invade is a true-to-form Space Invaders game. If you long for the days of dropping quarters while blowing up aliens, then this game is for you.

Value: Medium
Would I Buy Again: Maybe, but I’d waiver a little before I did
Learning Curve: None–my 5 year old even picked it up without me telling her how to play
Who Is It For: Old coin-op players and fans of old video games
What I Like: It captured Space Invaders well, but added a couple of extra twists.
What I Don’t: Nothing I can think of…it’s pretty straight forward
Final Statement: If you’ve been dieing to play Space Invaders, Aliens Invade is a good choice for you.
When I showed the prototype of this app to my Godson he said:" Hmm, I think I've seen this game before... It's a bit boring isn't it? I think you can make it a bit more interesting... "
So I did, this is space invaders as you've never played it before - five different kinds of power ups are available to you.

* Homing missiles
* Rapid fire
* Lazer blast
* Shield
So much fun you, you'll probably have to have a lie down after playing it.
