Admittedly, this is not an app for everybody.  However, I am a life-long fan of comic books and have used the Comic Shop Locator website on occasion to check out where the comic book stores in various big cities I happen to be visiting are located and maybe even stopping by one or two.

The app itself is pretty simplistic, either you input the zip code of the area you wish to search or tap the gigantic "Locate Me" button to use your current location as a starting point for the search.  After which, a list of comic stores and their addresses appear on the screen.

The app does launch Google Maps if you decide that you want to see the location of a particular shop on a map.

Frankly, the app doesn’t do that much beyond everything just mentioned.  Reviews would be nice.  Or at least links to each store.  Perhaps even a comic book news feed like the one that appears on the website.

While we’re at it, why do we need a zip code?  Why can’t someone just type in the name of a city to find all the comic stores located within it?

For its core functionality, the Comic Shop Locator is adequate.  It’s certainly worth the price that one pays for it (which is free).  However, I think the creators could do more with the app and do better with it.

Pros: Simple.  Free.

Cons: Not much to it beyond the search.
