iFlashReady v2.1 By: iFlashReady v2.1 Developer's Notes: Brighten your iPhone photos instantly with iFlashReady!By adding a software-based flash to the iPhone camera, iFlashReady helps you overcome the iPhone's lack of a build-in camera flash. The local method in iFlashReady is usually more effective than global methods such as levels, curves, fill light, or exposure adjustments.Without a flash, the iPhone camera often takes under-exposed and low-contrast pictures when lighting is poor. iFlashReady is a one-of-a-kind software specifically designed to enhance the photos taken by the iPhone camera by reproducing the effect of a camera flash. With a click of a button, you can add low, medium, or high levels of fill-in flash effect to reveal details in the dark regions, or light up the entire photo to achieve improved brightness, contrast, and color. The application is designed to get the job done with minimal clicks. You start with selecting a photo from camera roll. The save button is at the top-right corner. Our tech support forum is active and responsive.iFlashReady can also enhance photos imported by iTunes on iPod Touch or iPhone.iFlashReady is based on an innovative algorithm that intelligently lightens up each pixel to an individually differentiated level. Even if the entire photo is lightened up, the details in highlights are not blown out. The internal parameters are specially configured for the iPhone camera. |

The iPhone does a lot of things really well, but one thing that I've never been too excited about is the quality of it's pictures--often shakey (thanks to my coffee habit) and usually dark. Many of the pictures I take just wind up in the "garbage" can.
One reason why so many pictures are unusable is because the iPhone lacks a flash. I've become quite adept at winding around my kids in the hopes of getting adaquate lighting before they move; and while this helps, it certainly doesn't work all the time.
Often I use 3rd party (computer based) tools, such as Picassa to 'tweak' my photos before I email them off to other people. Because I'm inconsistent (to put it lightly) at syncing my phone, this means people will get pictures from a picinic 6 months later.
To try and decrease the amount of time between taking the picture and sending it off, tools, such as iFlash (if they work) are great.
I'm often skeptical of image processing programs that show before and after pictures since, the logic goes, if the image didn't work well for what they wanted to illustrate, they'd just use another one.
So I used a picture my daughter took and tried iFlash on it.
Here's the before and after:

WOW! The color is brighter and the scene has more 'light'. I can definately say that it works as advertised, but if I wanted to do any "serious" picture manipulation such as effects, changing saturation, etc, I would probably still use a computer based (rather than phone based) program.
iFlash is a great quick fix to the dark photo problem, the only problem I have is that iFlash crashed 3 times while I tried using it. I'm guessing it's an issue with OS 3.0 and I hope that it goes resolved quickly.
Quick Take
Value: High
Would I Buy Again: Absolutely
Learning Curve: Easy to use--but a little slow. (Probably because of all the calcuations it has to do.)
Who Is It For: People that like to email pictures from their phone, but don't want to email dark pictures
What I Like: It's easy to use and works well!
What I Don’t: The app crashed...but I'm sure that will be addressed.
Final Statement: iFlash is a must have app if you use the camera feature often--especially if you like to email pictures from your phone.
