When I was in high school, I elected to take typing class. I ended up taking both typing I and typing II. At the end of my sophomore year, I was typing 125 words a minute with about a 5% error rate. That was using an IBM selectric electric typewriter.
After I got my first computer, my wife was having difficulty with her typing skills. I found a game called “type attack”. Kill letters and words as they fall from the top of the screen. Fun Practice.
During my short excursion into the Palm OS realm, and a lengthy love hate relationship with WM, there was a cool game called fitalyletris. Designed to be used with the Fitaly keyboard, you were again presented with letters falling from the top of the screen, and when you typed in the letter or word, you would eliminate the words. Cool.
Now that I have an Iphone, I find it takes forever to type in an SMS, or respond to an e-mail.
Enter Monster Typer.
As in the programs I previously mentioned, the object of the game is to increase your typing speed. In Monster Typer, there are little bugs with letters on them that move from right to left. If they reach the left side, you lose a life. How do you prevent this? Select the letter of the little beast with your keypad. Laser flashes. Critter dies.
That’s only level 1. At the time of this review, I have not managed to get past the 2nd level. In level 2, add capitalization to the mix.
Value: GREAT!
Would I Buy Again: Without a doubt. FREE!

Who is it For: People interested in increasing their typing skills
My Likes: Good premise. Decent graphics and sound. Restart from last completed level.
My Dislikes: Capital Letters. I hate-em.
Final Statement: Entertaining for young and old. AND, learning is involved.

It's a great-looking game but it gets to be too difficult really quickly. Either that or my typing really sucks!
