Our Review:

The Rachel Maddow ShowJust think, if you were a celebrity like Rachel Maddow from MSNBC, you could have your own iPhone application as well.  Of course, it's being given away for free, so what does that say?

There are other celebrity-based applications out there, but most of them cost money.  Just as an FYI in case there are folks out there with extreme political views who would like to leave comments, my purpose is to review the quality of this application and not go into a diatribe regarding Maddow's or MSNBC's political views.

The application is set up very well, as if it were a bulletin board and once an area is tapped the "camera" zooms into that section.  If you scroll across, it takes you to different areas of the larger bulletin board, including photos, twitter feeds, quotes and a link to Air America.

The app simply allows the user to watch or listen to different types of podcasts from the show  The podcast seems to be pumped in via the Internet so a Wi-Fi or data connection is required.  It's kind of annoying since to watch or listen to anything, the device jumps to another application.

The application has to pay for itself somehow, so they are advertisements on banners at the bottom.  They seem unobtrusive enough to not be annoying.

In the end, the application is a bunch of links to Rachel Maddow's show.  While I'm not a Rachel Maddow fan, I love the concept and hope they do the same for The Daily Show someday.

Pros: good design.  Easy to navigate.

Cons: not much original content in the app itself  Only for Maddow enthusiasts.
