Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took a large credit card company like Barclaycard and asked thm to create an App Store video game? Well, now you have your answer in Waterslide Extreme.
One thing that is extreme about the app is its quality. It’s very well done. I presume Barclaycard hired an outside vendor to actually make the video game as they aren’t really noted as a game producer.
The game takes a few tries to get used to but is otherwise simple to learn. You slide down a waterslide with a cityscape in the background (be careful not to fall over the edge) and collect prizes of various shapes along the way. As you progress in each level, the waterslide gets more complex and difficult to maneuver.
You can whether the game is first-person or third-person. You can also choose exactly which motion lets you steer or brake. I chose the default setting of tilting the device right and left to steer and touching the screen to brake. There is music and sound effects with the game which you can choose to turn off.
The really amazing thing about this game is that Barclaycard could have easily chosen to plaster advertisements for itself all over the cityscape, but only chose to have a single, non-obtrusive ad on the splash screen (which most video game companies do anyway in a more obnoxious fashion).
In short, I’m all for corporate freebies and Waterslide Extreme is a quality one. Recommended.
Pros: Terrific graphics. Many settings. No obtrusive ads. Free. Simple to use.
Cons: Takes a few tries to get used to the controls.
