Internet shopping has caused an increase in competition for retailers. This is a good thing for you and me as we are now able to save money on things we would normally purchase at brick and mortar stores. Many people like to do online research on their smart phones while shopping to read reviews, check prices, and discover alternative products. Since 2005 TheFind.com has been offering shoppers a way to discover and compare products from a large number of online retailers. They have recently released a mobile app for the iOS that lets shoppers not online search from their iPhone, but also connect and share with friends the deals they have found.

This app has quite a bit in common with the popular Price Check by Amazon so I will be making a lot of comparisons to Price Check. Each offers a quick way to search their respective databases of products and each feature bar code scanning, which works like a charm on the iPhone 4 for scanning barcodes. Where TheFind differs the most is in two areas: coupons, and social media.

TheFind app is able to display coupons for whatever product you are searching for. Most of these are promo codes that you use with online retailers. They also tend to be retailer coupons instead of manufacturer coupons. Some coupons require you to perform some task such as following the company on Facebook, or filling out a survey. Facebook is a large part of TheFind experience. If you sign up for a TheFind.com account or sign in with Facebook, you can then save and search through stores as well as share deals with your friend’s on Facebook. This also gives you the ability to save items to a shopping list so you won’t forget anything at the store.

Besides the social media and coupon features, TheFind gives you access to not just online retailers, but to many brick and mortar stores and will even route you there. TheFind does lack any searching of Amazon which is a one of the larger online retailers and would certainly be the last nail in the coffin of Amazon’s Price Checker app. As it stands, TheFind is a great app that should be a great help to shoppers, both online and in person.
