In the old days (and I’m really showing my age again), there was a game called Breakout which involved breaking through a 2D brick wall.  Aces 3D Brick Breaker is a bit like that, except in 3D.  Plus it’s much cooler.

The graphics are, quite frankly, excellent.  Backdrops for each level are colorful and interesting.  The creators took a very simple concept and made it very rich and lush.  The motion is very smooth.  This game is very useful for those good at visualizing 3D in a 2D setting since your "paddle" has a 3D area in which to hit the ball.

There are a myriad of other tricks to the game as well.  In higher levels, the back "wall" in which the ball bounces off of moves back and forth.  In the "space" level (at the end), there are black holes that suck up the ball and spit it out elsewhere on the screen.  There are geometric shapes to pick up for extra points and treasure chests to unlock.  Despite the simplistic nature of the game, it is not boring.  Far from it, in fact.

The game is interactive with Game Center, Twitter and Facebook for sharing results.  Instructions are very clear (and use the same colorful and interesting graphics of the game itself).

My only (admittedly minor) complaint is that it would be nice to be able to control one’s iTunes audio library from within the game, since iTunes Audio playback works like a charm while playing.  Other than that, Aces 3D Brick Breaker is an excellent time-waster for those moments when you’re commuting or just generally have the time to waste.  It is well worth the dollar investment.
