Shop is an activity that is loved by some and loathed by others. Whether you are a retail butterfly, or your shadow rarely darkens the doorway of your local mall, it couldn’t hurt to earn some extra benefits from visiting popular locations. ShopKick is a passbook aware shopping app that rewards you for visiting stores and making purchases. The rewards are in the form of Kicks which can be redeemed for a number of store gift cards or a variety of other gifts.
ShopKicks works in one of a couple ways. You can earn kicks through browsing “Lookbooks” which are stacks of slides like browsing a sunday newspaper. Somewhere in the middle of the stack you will find a surprise of 1 kick. Secondly once you have opened certain Lookbooks you can unlock kicks that can be earned by walking into the designated store. Once you are there, open ShopKick to earn your kicks. Finally there are stores that offer kicks for each dollar spent at their store. Some of them offer deals to get extra kicks over certain dollar amounts.
Your kicks are stored on the app and your can cash them in for gift cards or other prizes whenever you want. ShopKick is a typical marketing app for increasing foot traffic into stores. You wont likely find local stores in this app but mostly national chains. Kicks can take a while to earn if you are not purchasing anything, but it is possible. It reminds me a some freemium games where the game can be played for free but it works better if you use the IAPs. If you are a shopper that frequents typical Mall type stores then throwing Shopkick on your phone could score you want extras next time you go on a spree.
