If I had come across Bee Leader randomly, I would surely have ignored it since I just cannot imagine a great game with a bee collecting honey. Thanks to editors at Cupertino, I got well introduced and after the hands on, I can barely put Bee Leader down.
The concept of Bee Leader is as fresh as it gets. Unthought ever before, this game brings a bee buzzing around, visiting flowers and sucking the nectar. You can go around the Earth and revisit old flowers and collect newly formed juice. Bring as much as you can before sun set and you’re done.
So how much could you add to this simple story to make it an irresistible game? Spiders, hens, vultures, ostriches, snakes, wild bees, rats and lightning clouds attack you and steals honey. And helping you are white clouds, shades and shields. Don’t forget to pickup bottled honey, clocks and extra soldier bees on the way.
There are a large number of levels or hives to be finished, sorted into different themes or worlds. Filling easier hives open larger and more difficult ones.
Controls might be the most critical point to note. I have seen many reviews complaining about the less reliable or vague controls. But personally, the bee like random or less restricted movements are what that makes Bee Leader unique and close to reality.
Bee leader also supports Joypad by which you can make your iPhone a joystick and your iPad will be just a screen. Overall, the concept, stunning graphics and unique controls make Bee Leader, my favourite game of 2013.

Fly around the world and hover over flowers to collect nectar. Look out for enemies and bad weather! Collect as much nectar as you can before the sun sets. The faster you get nectar back to your hive the more honey you'll make! Pick up plenty of bonuses along the way - nectar, honey, time, and bee buddies. The more bee buddies you find, the more nectar you'll collect. More nectar means more honey - sweet!
To climb up the Bee Leader ranks fly through different worlds making honey - Just Desert, Country Life, City Heights, Island Time and London Fun. Each world has different obstacles, enemies, flowers, bonuses to break open and other fun interactive goodies. Some worlds are small, others are big, and there's a few surprises along the way.
Control your bee using your preferred method: joystick, touch or tilt. You can also remotely control Bee Leader using another iOS device via wifi or Bluetooth using Joypad, available free from the App Store. See https://getjoypad.com for more details.
