I’ve waiting 12 years for the sequel to 2001’s Monster’s Inc, and 12 years later they gave me a wonderful game as well.
In Monsters University: Catch Archie, you take control of Mike Wazowski in a bid to well, catch Archie. Archie is an amalgamation of a pig and a goat and whatnot I do not wish to know. The game portrays itself similarly to Temple Run and other free runner games, in a sense that Mike has to repeatedly charge forward while dodging obstacles by flicking and sliding your finger across the screen and collecting bonuses at the same time. However, the difference lies that while all other free runners are seemingly infinite where your sole purpose is to get the highest score possible in that one round, Monsters University: Catch Archie has the stage end as soon as you subdue the pig.
Yes, I said subdue.
The game doesn’t quite end the moment you pounce onto the pig. Extreme dexterity is still needed to tap the screen with well timed intervals so as to make sure you do not fall off. That is when the stage truly ends and you are invited to move on to the next round.
It’s a great game overall, with great graphics and excellent game play. However, I did find a game a tad too short with very limited number of levels.
As a game with no in-app purchases required though, this makes Monsters University: Catch Archie one of the only games for iOS that is 100% completely free. So if you’re sitting there wondering if you should download it, go ahead. I give this both thumbs up.
