Apple suspends over-the-phone password reset

Hacking are never good and previously, there was a case where Wired’s Mat Honan had his iCloud application hacked as well as his Apple devices remote wiped. While this is a remote case, it still shows how scary hacking attempts can be, especially to someone that relies heavily on computer on his day-to-day activity. Apple took note of this problem and thus temporarily suspends over-the-phone password reset to all Apple users.

This is because the method on which the hacker had used to gain access to the iCloud account was made public and as such, it made complete sense for Apple to temporarily disable the telephonic  Apple ID password reset. Apple also took note of the problem and stated that once they enable the service again, it will take a stronger method for the user to get the password reset. Hopefully, they have covered all aspects possible.

Apple isn’t just the culprit on this because Amazon is another as well. However, the company had made a policy change which no longer allows the user to change the email address or credit card that are tied to the Amazon account via phone. The user will have to go to the website to make any changes instead.
