iPhone 5S Will Be Available In Limited Quantities At Launch Due To Fingerprint Reader Problems

Implementing a fingerprint reader in iPhone 5S was one of the constants of rumors about the future terminal, but I have not yet seen the component that would be part of the device. Even so, its implementation is still presented as a sure thing, but unfortunately it seems that would affect the initial availability of the terminal.

An Asian publication says that the low yield rates for the production of the fingerprint reader will result in a limited number of iPhone 5S terminals available on its launch day, which was expected anyway. Apart from the fingerprint reader, there seems to be problems with the implementation of the necessary drivers chips that provide energy to its LCD.

Poor yields of fingerprint-recognition chips and LCD driver ICs will likely force Apple to reduce first-quarter shipments of the rumored iPhone 5S, which is slated for launch in September 2013, according to industry sources.

Although Apple partners should begin production of these parts since last month, it seems that this process will kick off until later this month, resulting in a reduced number of terminals on iPhone 5S launch day. The fingerprint reader from iPhone 5S is designed by company AuthenTec, acquired by Apple last year, and problems in the production process should be based on the chip design. No matter what problems Apple has, it is clear that they will be overcome and iPhone 5S will be released on time, in limited quantities as Apple accustomed us each year.
