The Ping app offers a great assortment of features that include push notifications when any new IMs are received, the ability to use the app in portrait or horizontal mode, and offline messaging. Those using Ping will receive their own special ID and once this in place they can begin sending IMs to all other friends with Ping IDs as well.

Custom settings allow the app user to determine whether or not they receive an audible or vibration alert for new messages, and any new friends can be linked directly to the device address book with a single click of a button.
