User Rating:The camera on the iPhone is quite a work of engineering. For its diminutive size it packs quite a punch when it comes to knocking out a great photo on the go. In spite of the build in video function, there are times when You simply want a photo but your subject is moving too fast. Nabits has an interesting solution that borrows from a common extreme sports photo effect.
Have you seen those photos of skateboarders or surfers where there are multiple copies of the person in progression from a trick. This effect gives the illusion of motion but showing you each frame overlaid on top of each other. Nabits does this for you with as little pain and suffering as possible. You simply hold the phone still while your subject does their movements. Nabits grabs five photos in quick succession and then ask you to highlight the subject in each frame. Once that is done it reveals a finished product that is ascetically pleasing as well as eye catching.
I found this app useful for more than sports. My son is a toddler which means he never stops moving when he is awake. I tested this app out initially on him and had great results. I did notice that you need to maintain control of the phone because any movement during the capture will cause the backgrounds to not sync up and your finished photo will be messed up. It is also more effective if the subject moves enough between shots so that the images of them don’t overlap.
This app is another example of doing one thing and doing it well. Beyond the usual sharing with Facebook or Twitter the app’s options are quite sparse. I see nothing wrong with that since an app like this needs to get our of the way and let you create. Nabits is currently free so I don’t see any reason why you shouldn’t pick this photo app up today.
We rate this app 4 out of 5 stars.
