Transcription Coming To Note2Self

This is HUGE NEWS for iPhone users.
As I have noted previously, I am a big fan of using voice recognition with my computer and transcription services such as Jott and reQall with my iPhone. At this point, I don’t know what I would do without them.
The problem with Jott and reQall, however, is that recordings are limited to just 15 or 30 seconds. While I certainly understand the need to limit the amount of transcription due to cost, bandwidth and general server “drag”, I have been wishing for a solution that allowed me to record far longer notes using my iPhone and have them transcribed.
One solution that has worked, despite its cumbersome implementation, has been making a recording with WebIS’s Note2Self, sending it to my iMac, and then playing it while MacSpeech Dictate transcribes the voice note. It works more or less but it can be inaccurate and takes too many steps.
Well, the good news is, a solution is on the way thanks to WebIS and Note2Self.
Alex from WebIS let us know earlier today that WebIS has struck a deal to allow Note2Self users to transcribe their notes of unlimited length into text.
This is something we knew was in the works for a while and were hoping would come to fruition. Before moving forward with an agreement, though, Alex wanted to make sure the process worked well and was cost-effective. Apparently both conditions have been met. WAY TO GO ALEX!
That’s the good news. The less than good news is that this won’t be a version 2.1 update but more likely a 2.5 or 3.0 release.
Regardless, it is great to know this is in the works and, knowing Alex, when it is released it will be awsome!
