Recently, I have observed that paid apps are gradually degrading in quality, while free apps are hard to put down. After Air Wings, I haven’t had so much fun with an accelerometer-controlled game. Aerox is currently the second-best free game in the AppStore and we go hands-on.
Aerox is a 3D ball-rolling platformer just like Labyrinth but here, the goal is much more than evading holes. Each level begins with an overview of your path from origin to destination and accelerometer is your pal to steer the ball from former to latter. Tap bottom left to stop the ball or bottom right to fix the camera. Swiping over the screen will quickly turn the camera which, I think, is the most unique and useful addition (once you start playing, you’ll realize how significant this is).
As each level passes, more and more obstructions are introduced and by the fifth level, you are dealing with blocks, planks, pits, tubes and rails. You have to gain speed and stunt over the pits or sometimes the bouncing jump-platform throws you over them. Green blocks are movable and frequently, you have to build your way, before the cruise. Beware of falling by the sides; though checkpoints are here to help, alot of of time is lost. Roll through these inanimate villains and reach the green torch to complete a level. Make it home in least time, to get into the global high scores.
The animations used in the Aerox world (especially reflections in the shiny ball) are of high class and the background techno music adds the effect. Overall, this game is a true treat for all your senses and is super addictive. So hurry up and get this app, before it changes back to its original price of 2 dollars!
