The Battle of Britain was the first major campaign to be fought entirely by air forces, and was also the largest aerial bombing campaign they had ever seen back then. The Germans were pretty confident they’d beat the Brits into submission quickly and the fact that the British RAF didn’t buckle and actually managed to come out victorious was a turning point in the second world war. Which makes it a great setting for a flight sim app!

This particular app has campaign missions based on true history of Battle of Britain, from July 10th to Sept 15th, 1940. How cool is that? You can actually be part of the defense of Britain. It is a 3d air combat game, with accelerometer control, with photo-realistic scenes. You can control your fighter with accelerometer. Realistic flight control for full 360 degree of pitch/roll/yaw.
There are cccurate 3D model for major aircrafts in Battle of Britain. You can do dogfights with enemy fighters which can do maneuvers such as Immelman, Split-s and Barrel-Roll. Luckily there’s a thorough manual, because it’s like you’re actually flying the plane, and you have to take everything into account. There are 3 different view mode (Normal/Full screen/Target follow).

Version 2.05 has a full manual on how to fly, how to do dog fights, etc, which is an obvious, but very useful addition.
To be honest: I’m more of a shoot em up gal, and I don’t have the patience to go hunting around for stuff to shoot. But if you’re into flight simulators and you do have the patience, you’ll be rewarded with very smooth and wonderful gameplay. With very little effort you can feel like you were actually there, and that’s amazing.
