Air Show HD is a great app for anybody who needs to show off their photos. And you can’t beat the price of free for something like this with no ads (although there’s no guarantee of that in future releases).
To use the app, you need to have an Apple TV. Also, you need to manually turn on mirroring on your iPhone or iPad (instructions on how to do so are in the app). Once all that is squared away, this is a pretty cool app.
Remember how sometimes you like to torture friends by making them look at your vacation photos? This is a digital version of that, but you can also add background music and captions.
The app browses the library on your iPhone or iPad and you manually drag and drop the photos into each square of the slideshow. Once there, you can see the photos up top as they would appear on a television. You can also pinch-to-zoom and add captions to each photo. Even better, you can select songs from your music library to play while the slideshow is going.
The app was very intuitive to use although it was somewhat tough on an iPhone (even on the larger screen of the iPhone 5). The iPad was better for setting up a slideshow. I was also disappointed that hitting the pause button when a slideshow was going didn’t pause the music. I would have thought that to be a natural action.
Despite any minor flaws, this is an amazing app if you have an Apple TV, particularly for the price.
