User Rating:Billions of people turn to the MapQuest website whenever they need directions or hope to find a local restaurant, hotel, service or store. Now all of these same features are available through the MapQuest mobile app. In addition to great mapping resources the app also uses GPS options to help plot courses and give directions.
Anyone who has a MapQuest user account will be able to access this through the mobile app. This means that all kinds of maps can be saved and retrieved by the mobile device while on the road. The directions are displayed in an oversized format to allow easier navigation, but can also be converted to turn by turn line directions as well.
The maps can also have area hotels, theaters, gas stations, restaurants and more displayed with just the tap of a button. The helpful “Find Me” mode allows the device’s GPS feature to identify on the active map the exact location of the user, and then create more refined directions from that point as well.
Currently there are a great many directional and travel apps for those using Android, Blackberry, Nokia, Palm, Symbian, Windows Mobile, iPod Touch and iPhone devices, but few that are linked to a more complex Internet account also. This means that anyone using the app can do a great deal of travel planning from their laptop or desktop and then use all of their maps easily through their mobile device while on the road.
The MapQuest app is entirely free for download and upgrades are available for free too.
If you are looking for a flexible, comprehensive and fail-proof mapping app, this is the one for you to try right away.
