User Rating:Almost everyone has, at one point or another, seen Skee-Ball. The game was invented and patented by J.D. Estes of Philadelphia in 1909, and began distribution in 1914. The object is simple. The player rolls a ball down the alley where the ball goes up a ramp, and then drops into a hole. Each hole has a different point value. So, the higher the score the better. The typical skee-ball lane weighs in at about 400lbs. BUT: Now you can carry it in your pocket.
From the Developers Website:
In the tradition of Skeeball, everyone’s favorite Boardwalk bowling game, use your fingers and steady aim to fling “laser” balls down the alley and up the ramp into the scoring holes. The further the scoring hole is, the more points you’ll get!
But does this incarnation of the classic game measure up?
In the classic game, you have 9 balls. Touch the screen near the bottom to pick up a ball, and then flick your finger toward the top of the device to roll it. The Twist? You can tilt your device to assist in aiming.
In the progressive game, you have a specified goal to reach. The first goal is 200 points. If you achieve the goal, you receive another 9 balls, and the goal of 220 points. This continues until you miss the goal. The twist in this game? Watch the rings around the scoring holes. Every so often, one will flash. If you get the ball into the flashing hole, the score for that shot is multiplied by 5.
Without a doubt, the graphics in this game are stunning. Excellent animation with great detail, realistic sounds and physics. There is even a scrolling back board that provides messages thru-out the game.
