Another Government Agency Switches to iPhone

The BlackBerry used to be the device to go to for enterprise solution. However, this may not be the case anymore. As reported by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency, they have planned to end their eight-year relationship with Research In Motion on their BlackBerry device. Instead of using the aforementioned device, the agency will instead make use of the Apple made iPhone.

This move is a critical blow to Research in Motion which is already struggling to keep itself afloat after finding that it has been suffering from losses after losses. This is because the company has been losing market share to competing devices such as the Apple iPhone and Google Android devices. In fact, ICE is already planning to spend more than $2.1 million to purchase the iPhone for its 17,000 employees. The reason for the change is to have a platform that is more capable and dynamic to support ICE’s mission and personnel.

In addition to that, Apple has a strict control of its hardware platform and operating system. The platform is also used independent of the provider and provides the agency with a lot of control and management. Thus, it makes the move to the iPhone a relevant one.
