Apple Acquires 'TestFlight' iOS Beta Testing Platform
Apple has officially acquired Burstly, while the company name might not ring a bell most developers will be familiar with TestFlight perhaps the most popular iOS beta testing platform.
According to sources within Burstly the company will be discontinuing its Android product effective as of March 21. Furthermore the will not be taking on new customers, current customers however can continue to use the platform as previously.
In standard Apple way the company has confirmed the purchase to Re/code, Kristin Huguet comments:
Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans
It is unclear why Apple made this purchase, however they have been known to acquire multiple companies each year.
