Bluetooth 4.0 and how we can extend the functionality of our iPhone

Last week Apple released a new MacBook Air series in which they implemented Bluetooth 4.0, the latest version available for electronic products.

Bluetooth 4.0 is the version that has the lowest energy consumption paired with the lowest latency for data transfer. Apple is among the first companies in the world to implement this technology and MacBook Air is only the first products where it will be built.

The new iPhone due to be launched over a month almost certainly will have it, just like the iPod Touch and iPad 3 tablet that will not be forgotten by Apple.

While Bluetooth technology cannot be used to transfer any files from our devices to other devices from other manufacturers, there are many accessories that you can use. From simple hands free to implement sensors in shoes or phones that gives us notice of SMS or calls received on our devices. Bluetooth technology would enable even the location of our device if the distance between the device and phone which you seek is less than 5 meters, but the possibility of localization does not end here.

Those from EETimes say that the new technology can be used to locate the users inside buildings or in areas where GPS signal is weak. Of course the Bluetooth technology can be used for the device to communicate with a wide range of products in a manner similar to the NFC technology but everything depends on implementation.
