iOS 6 Users Generate 83.1% of all iOS Traffic in North America
The guys over at Chitika did some pretty interesting research on the adaptation rate of the new iOS 6 software.
It has long been known that iOS users are rather speedy when it comes to updating their software. After Apple released iOS 6.0 it too less than a month for it to accounted for 60% of all iOS web traffic. After the release of iOS 6.1.0 which was released just over two weeks ago, iOS 6.1 alone accounts for more than half of all web traffic.
What’s interesting is that currently only about 12.2 percent of all iOS users are still on iOS 5, while approximately 5 percent of total iOS users are using earlier versions of iOS.
To quantify this study, Chitika Insights took a sample of millions of iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch mobile ad impressions originating from the Chitika Ad Network. This data set is composed of 24-hours’ worth of impressions observed through February 12th, 2013, originating from the U.S. and Canada.
