One of the things that clouded iOS 5.0.1 users is that they were not able to jailbreak their devices. However, that soon changed with the update of ultrasn0w because now, a lot of iOS devices can now be jailbreak with ease for those that are experienced.

Cydia, one of the most famous applications on iOS had recently updated its app store with ultrasn0w version 1.2.5 which allows the user to unlock their iPhone 3G, 3GS and even the iPhone 4 which was before, unable to be software unlocked due to certain complications which was not found in previous iOS versions.

However, before everyone can rejoice, it should be noted that not all of the iOS 5.0.1 devices are able to be unlocked. As of date, there are only a few basebands that are supported although we suspect that there will be more to come. As for the iPhone 4, those that have a baseband of 01.59.00 can use ultrasn0w 1.2.5 to unlock their devices and for the iPhone 3G/3GS, basebands of 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 as well as 06.15.00 can be unlocked using this application.

Before unlocking, it may be best to do a complete backup of the device but we’re sure you are well aware of that already.
