Palm Mojo/webOS SDK Pre-view Available
Palm’s Pre Phone made quite a splash when it was announced at CES in January.
In addition to iPhone-like multi-touch, a feature Google shelved on Android for fears of patent litigation, the Pre’s wow factor was bolstered by webOS.
Using webOS, developers create native applications with full access to the hardware, support for background tasks and all of the Pre’s other goodies using JavaScript and other familiar web technologies.
This week, Palm expanded its Mojo/webOS SDK preview program to make it broadly available to developers.

Palm CTO Mitch Allen’s hour-long webcast, available at YouTube, describes the application model and the anatomy of an application, builds a sample app, and contains details on local storage, notifications and services. The slides for this talk are available on Slideshare.net.
This tutorial, based on the sample app from Mitch Allen’s webcast, introduces the pieces (and file-structure) behind an app, webOS’s Model-View-Controller implementation and includes sample code to explore.
O’Reilly has made the first chapter of the their rough-cut webOS book available for browsing and download.
