Top 5 apps of the week [Year Walk, Cloze, Colour Sheep & more]
For all those who haven’t had the time or were too lazy to search the App Store, we make things easy for you. See here are our top picks for this week.
Year Walk ($3.99)
We have no arguments with the Editors at Cupertino here, as this one is surely worth the crown this week. This game is a real piece of art! Living upto its reputation, Simogo has beautifully illustrated a mystic world based on a Sweedish folklore. At midnight, you break the boundaries of time & space and go for an ‘Year Walk’. The new world is created in maze-like layers with adding anxiety at each turn. The essence of the game is best felt than told and so, I’m not putting up any spoilers. I can just assure that this would be the best 4 bucks you’ve ever spent.
Gun Bros 2 (Free)
I wonder why a sequel to such an immensely successful game be so late to arrive. Maybe they were too busy making it awesome! Yeah, I may be exaggerating things a little too much but any one who loved the original Gun Bros would surely enjoy this one. T.O.O.L is back and Percy & Francis Gun are the only once who can save the Earth! With the same gamplay in a new storyline, retaining the awesome controls, action and graphics, this free game is not to be missed.
Cloze – The inbox is human again (Free)
I am still in line to access the popular Mailbox app when I came across this one. Since I am not an exclusive ‘gmail-er’, I liked the idea of a third-party mail client with support for Yahoo! and others. As it turns out, Cloze is much more than a conventional mail client. Link all your ids & social networks and wait till the servers analyse all your data. The result is an ideal inbox sorted into what is relevant or rubbish or personal or even work related. I scanned though the various categories and was surprised to see that the algorithm is perfect. Cloze has now become my primary inbox!
Color Sheep ($0.99)
Help Sir Woolson to defend his castle form the wolves from Wolfcano! Yup, this is basically a tower-defense game, but how you do this is rather unique. Our sheep has a magical power of changing colors and he can attack only the same colored wolf. You have a sort of palette at the bottom, where you tap on the colors to mix and shade Mr. Woolson. Though not the easiest game in town, Color Sheep surely provides a decent addictive endless gameplay experience.
Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno ($0.99)
“You are Ash, a devil rabbit and the prince of Hell. Tool up with the meanest weapons, the scariest masks and craziest wheels to defeat the ugliest monsters. Hell Yeah! is a crazy action-adventure side-scroller set in Hell. In Hell Yeah! Pocket Inferno, you ride an awesome jetpack driller, avoid deadly obstacles, fire kick-ass weapons, exterminate ugly monsters, collect gold, level up, unlock collectibles and complete missions across the crazy worlds of Hell Yeah!” With over 50 levels to conquer, over 30 monsters to defeat, hidden areas to be discovered and great powerups to be unlocked, 99 cents doesn’t sound to be a high tag.
And those who missed the fame by just a hair’s breadth!
