A few days ago, I was checking the “best sellers” in the App Store, and found a high climbing app, with an unappealing icon: a blueprint of the Eiffel tower. I thought it was some kind of 3D viewer, and passed on.
I kept seeing the app rising… And finally checked it. It’s a game! And a very novel game, quick to pick and play and really fun (for old ages, even). What’s it about?
In Blueprint 3D, you are presented with puzzles (I have not checked the exact numbers, but there are 6 or 7 packs, and each has around 20 levels!). The puzzle solution is the blueprint (or sketched image) of some building or object (themed depending on the level pack). The novelty comes in the scrambling: the drawing is broken in 3D: you need to rotate everything until the pieces coincide, showing you a 2D image.
It sounds odd, but I just looked at the screenshots, thought it was nice and bought it, it’s too inexpensive to think about not buying. After solving 22 levels, I was hooked: I realised it is a very good game. It’s easy to solve levels, and then you get caught in the “only one more”. It’s easy enough to keep you playing and challenging enough to keep you entertained for hours.
Probably the kind of game you want to show people without iPhones or iPod Touches to show what can you play with in your commute.
