In the aptly-named Carve-a-Pumpkin, you can do just that. For free. Without knives, without having to touch pumpkin goo.

Well, I guess because of this, the app isn’t as much fun as making a real pumpkin. But its simplicity and intuitiveness will get little ones’ seal of approval.

In this free app, your child first picks his or her pumpkin; he or she can choose from 6, ranging from the generic, orange pumpkin to a “is-that-even-a-pumpkin” pumpkin.

Next your child will choose how to cut the pumpkin. The pumpkin can be cut freehand, or cut with the help of a stencil. Eyes, noses, mouths, and even pre-arranged sets of these can be selected (and then enlarged, rotated, and repositioned).

Decorations like black cats, ghosts, and spiders can also be applied to the picture.

Lastly, the background can be changed. After the background is selected, everything is done! You can share your child’s pumpkin to Facebook or Twitter, send it by email, or just save it to your device.

This app is great! It’s free, simple, and fun! I think that any young child would enjoy this app.
