The native iPhone/iPod Touch RSS reader landscape is becoming increasingly crowded. It seems that at least one new RSS reader for the iPhone/iPod Touch is release each night. Yesterday was no exception and one of the new RSS readers, Gazette, caught my eye.

Priced at just $2.99, Gazette syncs with your Google Reader account. In this regard it stands as a direct competitor with, for example, Byline and the new, and free, Doppler.

How does it stack up???

If all those apps that allow you to type email while the iPhone or iPod Touch is in landscape caught your eye but you didn’t want to pay for something that Apple should have included in the first place… you are in luck!

Conceited Software just released Firemail, a free landscape email app. It works well and, best of all, has a nifty additional feature…

I have had the opportunity to be using Pano for the week leading up to its release tonight and all I can tell you is — This is a fantastic app!

As the Pano website describes it…

Pano for iPhone lets you take beautiful, seamless panoramic photos straight from your iPhone, no other software necessary

That’s right, Pano lets you take two three or four pictures and immediately turn them into a panoramic shot. I used to do this by snapping a bunch of images and then pasting them together. Pano does the same thing only… it does it on the iPhone itself and it does it so well you would never know that the image started as a number of different shots.

Yesterday we noted the on-going drama of Beer-gate as the developer of iBeer sues Coors for ripping off their idea and giving away the free iPint (at least until Apple pulled the latter.)

THAT, however, is not the only drama unfolding these days in the world of iPhone apps.

Apparently the creators of the gps app Where To are divorcing and custody of their apps is more than a bit of an issue. (Where To has grossed about $200,000 since its release so there really is something to fight over.) The split and the drama surrounding it was revealed in a recent blog post.

With the invention of such things as music on demand, the concept of radio is becoming a bit of a dinosaur (and I include satellite radio with that description.  Why pay money for something you can get online for free?).  However, broadcast music is far from dead and with the correct software any iPhone or iPod Touch (provided the iTouch can catch a Wi-Fi signal) can become a portable radio.  The interactive capabilities of the software far exceed anything pedestrian radio could hope to achieve. 

In that vein, I am going to compare two free iTunes software applications for sharing and listening to music across the Internet (in effect becoming your own disc jockey by making a playlist and sharing with friends).  Both have websites associated with them which work very similar to the iPod Touch/iPhone application equivalent, but this article will concentrate on the latter.

As I have previously noted, I’m a big fan of White Noise, the highly configurable ambient sound app  I’ve been using for the past few weeks. I like the high quality sounds White Noise offers and the easy to use interface it brings with it.

White Noise Lite, a free but limited version, was released tonight.

This version offers the same easy to use interface but just 8 sounds, rather than the 36 offered in the full version. These include– Beach Waves- Thunder Storm- Crickets Chirping- Extreme Rain- Grandfather Clock- Chimes- White Noise- Oscillating Fan.

The full version costs $.99 and is, in my opinion, well worth the price. If, however, any of these eight sounds are enough for you, this is an even better option since it is FREE.

Our friend Alex at WebIS has gone live with a new website and some fantastic screenshots of the upcoming Pocket Informant for iPhone are front and center.

There is no doubt that Pangea are among the most talented Mac OSX coders around.  Their Mac games have fantastic graphics, superb sounds, and a whole lot of fun. Moreover, in bringing their games to the iPhone, they have an uncanny ability to make the game as much, or even more enjoyable on the handheld vs. the desktop versions.

I was shocked to find that the iPhone versions of Enigmo and Cro-Mag Rally look and feel just like the Mac versions.  Add to that some recent price drops and you have some great iPhone gaming!

A few months back I received a copy of their Mac game Nanosaur 2 as part of an application bundle.  It is a good game and I enjoyed playing it immensely over the summer.  It is for that reason I was thrilled to see that Pangea has now brought it to the iPhone, as well.

One sure sign that the iPhone app world is rapidly maturing is the degree of drama already unfolding in some corners of the App Store universe.

Case in point number one… Beer-gate.
