I have to admit I was a more than a bit shocked when Apple let Trufone’s app onto the iPhone. I mean, who ever thought a (1) true voip app, (2) with excellent voice quality, (3) that let’s voice calls that aren’t routed through AT&T, would be allowed while (4) Apple and AT&T’s exclusive deal was still in place?
But there it was. Moreover, it works great.
In the weeks since its release Truephone has seen almost weekly updates. It now works with the iPod Touch, offers some great packages and more. But that’s just the beginning.
Beginning January 12 Truphone will introduce Skype calling and IM to its iPhone and iPod Touch application.
For someone like me who, for under $5 a month has unlimited SkypeOut calling, this is nothing short of amazing.
I’ll be speaking with Truphone CEO Geraldine Wilson late tomorrow afternoon and will have a post on the interview, as well as a sneak peak of the new functionality tomorrow night.
For details on Truphone visit the site HERE.

Beejive IM isn’t cheap. There are less expensive, or even free, options if you want a native IM client on your iPhone.
So why would anyone spend the extra cash on Beejive?? Why? Because it is by far the best IM option in the App Store.
Well, the best option just got better. In an update truly worthy of a 2.0 designation, Beejive 2.0 has all the previous features and adds…
-File tranfers
-Send and receive voice notes
-Open received documents, images, sound files and movies
-Send and receive pictures
-Added address book linking for buddies
You can get it HERE in the App Store for $15.99
I love my iPhone. I love having my Eye-Fi card wirelessly transfer the pictures I take with my Casio canra to my iMac and, more recently, my Evernote account. I LOVE the fact that, as Wayne over on Gear Diary just posted, Eye-Fi is readying an iPhone app to wirelessly transfer images taken on the iPhone to their user accounts.
As Wayne notes-
Since the iPhone has no memory card slot, the service will work via Wi-Fi to upload their photos to their desktop and then optionally up to one of the 25 different photo sites supported by Eye-Fi. Expect more details from MacWorld this week or you can sign up here to be notified when the application is available for the iPhone.
When I first heard about Eye-Fi last year I didn’t see he need for it. Now I wouldn’t not have it. This new iPhone app makes it even better!
Daylite is a powerful productivity suite for Mac that integrates mail, caledar and contacts into a powerful busines organizer. With Daylite-

Now imagine that power on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Now stop imagining. Daylite Touch is being demoed this week at MacWorld and should arrive in the coming months. You can get more onformation HERE. Screen shots after the break.

I have a copy of the exiled app Netsharing that I purchased before Apple mercilessly ripped from the App Store last summer. Unfortunately, I’ve never used it since it is unclear to me just how closely, and easily Apple can monitor the use o such contract-breaking things. Fortunately a kosher means of tethering is on its way and, rumor is, we won’t have long to wait.
TUAW has posted a rumor that an official tethering plan may role out as early as this week. While a supposed 5GB cap for an additional $30 might not sound like a great deal, having the option to do so without fear of retribution is ALWAYS nice.
I find myself increasingly comfortable leaving home without my notebook even when I have a good deal of work to do. Thanks to my iPhone and a growing assortment of productivity apps I’m able to do almost everything I might need to do computer-wise right on my handheld.
Now Soonr takes it one step further by making it possible to not only access files on your iPhone remotely, but to collaborate with others too. With Soonr…
Everyone creates their own personal cloud using the software you download here. Select the files and folders you always want with you, and enjoy your new cloud power on your iPhone or anything with a browser!
And there’s more. Be in control and in touch even when you’re away from your desk and computers are turned off. New freedom, security and mobility.
It looks to be an incredibly powerful tool. So powerful, in fact, that it’s best understood through a demonstration.
To recap from yesterday- Pocket Informant for iPhone was announced as early as the opening of the App Store. Six months later we’re still waiting but…
It will not be much longer before we actually do see the release of the application. Alex will be at MacWorld this week and will be giving some demonstrations of Pocket Informant which is moving closer and closer to release..
Having seen a Beta version I’m pleased to tell you that the wait will have been worth it. The version currently on my iPhone looks great and is incredibly usable.
In my opinion, Alex has made some excellent choices with regard to the application. He understands that, due to Apple’s limitations, it cannot integrate directly with the iPhone’s data but needs to sync with online applications and services. Alex has chosen two of the best. For calendar syncing the choise is Google calendar. For tasks synching the choice is chosen Toodledo. That means that once the application is released you’ll need only one application forcalendaring and tasks. Better yet, they will be fully integrated with one another. Details and some a number of high-quality screenshots right from my iPhone after the jump.

Dimitri’s company Portable Arts is back with their third release. This time they figured, why deal with one body part when there are so many from which to choose. The result, Grossinator,
As they explain it–
The human body is like its own instrument. So we took all the different body sounds and put them into this one application. Your own portable human sound machine is here in Grossinator!
Organized by the part of the body producing the sound, we include over 80 sounds in this app:
Breathing, Burping, Coughing, Hiccups, Laughing, Screaming, Slurping, Vomiting, Yawns, Sneezes, Snores, and everyones favorite, sounds from your Rump, you know… Farts!
You can loop a sound for continuous play, delay your sounds and catch your friends off guard, or que up the sounds to be played in any order you like!
At only .99, you can’t go wrong.
You can get Grossinator HERE in the App Store.
