I really enjoyed myself when I played the original Cut the Rope a couple of years back. Last year, I reviewed and enjoyed the spinoff version, Cut the Rope: Time Travel as well. So it was no surprise that I’d have high expectations of Cut the Rope 2, the official sequel for the game that truly left me marveling.
Graphic updates/upgrades aside, gameplay remains largely the same. In Cut the Rope 2 as well as all other iterations of the series, the player literally cuts swinging ropes in a well-timed fashion to proceed. The objective of the game revolves around getting a piece of candy to the frog character in each stage.
But what makes Cut the Rope 2 a true sequel to the original is the introduction of 5 new characters, each with their own unique abilities. This causes the game to not just feel like a cheap expansion pack, but rather an independent adventure and journey of its own.
Unfortunately, while Cut the Rope 2 is a paid app priced at $0.99, it still calls for and encourages in-app purchases to be made for decent advancements in-game. However, that aside, this is a great game that definitely lives up to the reputation and legacy left behind by the original.
