The ethereal-sounding phenomenon of ‘Cloud’ storage has been taking the world by storm (oooh, an accidental pun!). By storing data on online servers, it makes the idea of storing data on hard drives seem as archaic as the gramophone.
EverDocs brings users a step closer to having seamless access to their documents wherever they are. Using Cloud technology, it creates a bridge between your computer (OS X or Windows) and iPhone/iPad.
The app works brilliantly, but it also acknowledges that while remotely viewing documents on your desktop is flashy, it’s uses are limited. What really makes EverDocs shine is the option to e-mail documents from your computer to, well, anyone with any e-mail address. Suddenly, even memory sticks seem like a clunky way of storing your precious documents.
The free version of EverDocs allows users to view documents in the PDF format, while paying an extra $3.99 will extend viewable file types to all the most common ones. The security bundle costs $7.99, so it all adds up a bit if you want the complete package. Considering the usefulness of the app however, it’s worth it.
EverDocs requires you to install the app on both your computer and iPhone, and admittedly the PC interface can be a bit awkward. Nevertheless, this is a small gripe with an app that will make many people feel much easier knowing that they’ve got access to their most important data on the go.
