For those who are big fans of Adventure Time (and there are quite a few of you), this game represents yet another collectible to buy.  As a game, however, it’s pretty bland.  It’s probably best for the demographic that Adventure Time itself is targeted towards:  kids.

For those unfamiliar with Adventure Time: it’s about the surreal adventures of the human Finn and the shapeshifting dog Jake in the Land of Ooo.  Now it gets weird:  Fionna and her dog sidekick Cake are gender-swapped versions of Finn and Jake.  She gets “fictional” adventures of her own in the series written by the Ice King (another character.  Let’s try and keep it simple by not going into details about him).

In this game, you are Fionna riding a giant bat and you have to swat at various monsters flying toward you.  You can leap and hit the monsters as you fly past by tapping on them.  Each attack costs you energy.  When you run out of energy, you lose.  As you accumulate points, you can upgrade items such as your sword and your energy.

That’s it. That’s the whole game.  The animation is fine as are the character designs and game play is solid.  The sophisticated gamer might find it a bit dull but kids might be more tolerant of the repetitious nature of the app.  On the other hand, the game is not exactly a wallet-cruncher (it’s only a dollar) so one cannot expect a sophisticated game.  Cartoon Network knows their audience.
