Hill Climb Racing is one of the latest 2D platformers to hit the store, featuring car stunts and extreme respect for Physics. A similar game is Jelly Car which has successfully completed 3 sequels and still running strong. So, why not try something new?
One ride, two controls and a rugged terrain! Conquer the uneven land with the accelerator under your right thumb and brake under your left one. These buttons also have swaying forward and backward effects, which will come in handy, when the rubber faces the sky. Hills, valleys, tunnels and bridges are thrown your way, while you collect coins for points and refill gas to keep going. You can do a back flip or neck flip or air time for extra points, but a wrong move can show you the exit.
Though the game sounds relatively easy, the major challenge is to keep the paint as many times, you will find your ride upside down or standing on its butt. Thanks to the over- responsive suspensions and flawless physics engine, a small disparity in your controls will send you toppling. You can upgrade your ride with coins and this will be necessary, because even tiny dunes turn you over in the deeper levels.
The animation follows the typical 2D protocol while the background score is adventurous. The neck-breaking sound tickles your nerves and you try to wreck the ride just to hear his neck break ( sounds cruel? Try it yourself! ) To sum up, Hill Climb Racing doesnot boast a never-before experience or an innovative gameplay, but as a free game, it is not a bad choice to kill your time, either.
