In February of 2009 the journal “Applied Cognitive Psychology” issued a report that demonstrated how “doodlers” were able to retain more information during such events as lectures and meetings than “non-doodlers”. This is great news to fans of the Jackson Pollock app which is a wonderfully relaxing program allowing the user to create designs and original artwork modeled on the style of the late artist who gives the app his name.

Touch the screen and a splotch of paint appears; touch it again and a new color of paint is used. If you drag your finger across the screen you can make expressive swirls and whorls in the current color, but once you stop a new color will begin. The result? Something very similar to the amazing works composed by Jackson Pollock himself.

Users can also opt to download a photo or picture from their own library or from one in their mobile device’s options to use as a backdrop to their painting efforts. They can also incorporate a photograph taken from their mobile device’s camera as well.

Currently, there are other apps that allow the user to create custom and original art, including Brushes and Artisan. Both use their own original style and format for creating easy and simple works of art, and so too does the Jackson Pollock app. It is currently available only for iPhone and iPod Touch users.

The cost of this app is only ninety-nine cents, and the current version has been upgraded to include the most colors possible.
