The Couch To 5K app is a perfect training tool that gets the runner, jogger or walker properly prepared to cover 3.1 miles in a nine week time span.
The Couch To 5K begins with a very simple three day a week workout that quickly increases and improves the individual’s ability to increase the amount of jogging they can manage. The workouts include a warm-up, cool down, and timed cardio session. They vary between periods of walking and jogging which improve the individual’s ability to handle increasing challenges. The fully customizable commands allow the user to opt between a male or female voice to prompt them into the next portion of their workout, or they can choose no prompts at all.
Installed or custom play lists can be used for each workout, and after following the nine week program the individual will have become healthier, stronger, and capable of tackling a standard 5K race. The included food diary allows for the app user to integrate their training with a weight loss program too.
The Couch To 5K is intended to help anyone develop the respiratory and muscular capability to tackle roughly three miles of running in approximately thirty minutes of time. It is available for iPhone and iPod Touch users.
