All parents know that the possibility for sleep is somewhat limited during the first years of their children’s lives, but with the Ciao Baby app parents might be able to train their children to sleep much better. The Ciao Baby app uses Controlled Crying Technique to teach a young baby how to settle themselves into sleep without the need for parental soothing.

Not all parenting experts agree with the approach, but the app actually makes it as safe as possible. It does this by providing a pre-bed checklist that ensures a child is in ideal condition to drift to sleep easily and quickly. It then relies on a precisely timed set of waiting periods to see if the child is able to lull themselves to sleep. For example, the traditional approach says to allow the child to cry for only two minutes before returning to their side.

Without removing them from their crib, the parent then calms them and again leaves the room. The app will then begin the second waiting period, which is now automatically doubled to four minutes. This pattern repeats for the amount of time the parent chooses, and it prevents them from re-entering the room too soon and actually stopping the baby from entering into sleep.

There are no other apps similar to the Ciao Baby app, and it promises to be an innovative tool in child rearing.

The cost for the app is $1.99, and any updates would be made available free of charge. It functions with iPod Touch and iPhone devices.

If you want to help your child to fall asleep naturally and quickly this app is sure to come in handy.
