I’m a fan of the Marvel Comics movies, particularly the Avengers ones, so already I’m biased towards this game. Even if I wasn’t, this is a terrific game. And it’s free!
The game could be categorized as simple. The objective is to fly Tony Stark a.k.a. Iron Man along the backdrop and avoid some obstacles while shooting others (known as an “infinite runner” style game). There are plot points that tie into the Iron Man 3 movie, but the game overall isn’t as sophisticated as the one for Iron Man 2 (although maybe more than Iron Man). Okay, there is a complaint: Robert Downey Jr. didn’t provide the voice of the title hero.
The game graphics, created by the experts at Gameloft, is sophisticated enough for any adult while playing the game is easy for any child. You tilt or slide your finger across the screen to move Iron Man and tap to shoot his repulsor rays. Obviously, since this game is to promote the movie, they want to cast as wide a net as possible (did I mention it was free?).
You can earn points in various levels to upgrade armor or simply get different armors. Gameloft makes some money from the impatient to buy said points with real money.
If you’re any sort of Marvel Comics fan with an iDevice you’ve probably already downloaded this game (as mentioned, free). For the rest, it’s worth your time. Between the price and the decent graphics and gameplay, I’d say this purchase is a no-brainer.
