I love travelling around and visiting new places. However, my weekly schedule is not that constant and by the time I realize that I am free for a weekend, its too late to plan a trip.

The name itself is pretty much self explanatory. Last Minute Travel Deals is a hub of the best hotel, flight, cab and activity deals at popular tourist destinations around the world, ready to be booked at a short notice. And the best part – it works like a charm.

The smooth interface with a catchy loading animation gives way to a list of world’s most popular tourist areas, along with a separate list of the closest ones based on your location. Once you make up your mind on where to escape to, a detailed file of dozens of hotels is opened up, with dollar-tagged pins on the map.

You realize that these guys are really serious about this “Last Minute” thing when you find that there is no date picker in this section, but only ‘Today’ and ‘Tomorrow’ to be toggled. Scroll through the hotels to shortlist the ones you and your wallet loves.

Each hotel portfolio consists of its info like description, location, services etc and another widget with its TripAdvisor ratings and reviews. A gallery of photos of the hotel, a map and a list of variety of rooms available are also brought in for booking. If you like what you see, you can select the number of people and days your plan allows and securely pay for it without even leaving the app.

Hotels are pretty much all that Last Minute Travel Deals can do on the iPad, though I’m not sure why; because the iPhone app is kept more powerful with the ability to find flights, things-to-do and cabs too.

Similar to what you did with hotels, you can search for great deals on air travel just by entering your source and destination airports. The search is quite powerful with sorting and filtering options by cost, flight length, number of stops and even the airline provider. Activities show you the best things every tourist must do during the tour and finds you good deals on entry passes, again with a powerful search. Cabs section can pre-book cars to pick and drop you back at the airport or at hotels.
