User Rating:Don’t mess with Stan! Ever since Star Wars’ R2D2, Buck Rogers’ Twiki and the very huggable Wall-E we know robots can be cute. With the dawn of Stan, we know they can also be very fierce! Stan (short for “STatic Alien Neutraliser”) is an older, somewhat battered robot, but this doesn’t deter him one bit from defending the realm of Po’Trubia from the evil Sleevils ’til his last sigh.
You can pick between Campaign mode, twenty increasingly difficult levels with all kinds of new enemies and a big, mean, Sleevil Boss waiting for you at the end, and Survival, where you basically keep fighting until Stan can take no more. Poor little tin man. Gameplay is deceptively simple: you just point with your finger and shoot! Stan can’t move, he can only shoot at what you’re pointing out to him. The first few levels aren’t that hard which allows you to get a hang of things and then when you’re ready things start heating up and it gets pretty difficult, pretty darn’ quickly.
Personally, I prefer pointing a gun at my intergalactic enemies, rather than my finger. Gameplay can become a bit muddled once the enemies start packing up the screen. And I prefer playing this kind of game on an iPad rather than an iphone, because I think the iphone screen is just too small. Could be my butterfingers… Also, it kept crashing on the iPhone, which is really annoying. Basically, every time I died, the game crashed. I know they’re working at that, but jeez! Get a move on guys! On the up side: It looks very cute, the gun upgrades are great and Stan is the kind of computer you’d like to take home with you, rather than send out to be annihilated by Sleevils.
