The character of Puggy the Monster was first introduced by iOS game developer MegaCubic Entertainment nearly two months ago with the release of the free app called Puggy the Monster – The Fun Bite. In that app, you can test your reaction time by sticking your finger into Puggy’s open mouth and removing it just before Puggy bites it off. It’s quite simple, really, but it can be amusing especially for kids. Puggy the Monster – The Fun Bite also comes with options to see Puggy’s own funny reactions as you cause a sudden thunderstorm and hold a magic light bulb show, among other antics.
Just a couple of weeks ago MegaCubic released another app spotlighting Puggy in all its monstrous naughtiness. The new app is called Puggy the Monster – Trail of Shadow, and this time Puggy does more than bite and amuse. Most of the casual features found in The Fun Bite are carried over into Trail of Shadow, but the newer app has loads more to offer.
The main setup of Trail of Shadow is composed of Puggy being confined in a little box with a couch and a TV set. He’s just standing there, looking all scary-cute with his exposed fangs and somewhat intimidating demeanor. As he’s obviously just idle, you must take it upon yourself to keep him busy. There’s a host of things you can do to the ever-ready Puggy, including blowing him up with dynamite, making him drink a potion that turns him into a gigantic dog, flooding his little abode, making him spray your device’s screen with MegaCubic graffiti, put a chicken on his head, and striking him with lightning. It’s all quite silly, and maybe that’s exactly why it’s fun, too. And while any of this is happening, and even right after, you can tap on the camera icon just beside Puggy’s home sweet box to save a screenshot of his often disheveled appearance and share it over your favorite social network.
Beyond having a blast with Puggy’s various reactions, you can also have fun with Puggy in another setup in the game. Outside Puggy’s box, Puggy becomes the game character in the exciting bricks puzzle pack, whose every level requires you to guide Puggy across 3-D platforms made of numerous blocks and obstacles as he tries to collect as many gold coins as he can and reach the finish line, or, rather, finish block, before the allotted time runs out. But what are the gold coins for? The gold coins can be used in the app’s fitting room section. There you can purchase new monster outfits for Puggy and new designs for his beloved box using your hard-earned gold coins.
Like Puggy the Monster – The Fun Bite, Puggy the Monster – Trial of Shadow features impressive 3-D graphics and original sound effects. But while The Fun Bite is free, Trail of Shadow is not, since it has more in store. The good news is that Trail of Shadow is currently on sale for only $0.99.
