User Rating:I like clever games. I like amusing games. I like gross-out bloody games. I like funny games. And most of all, I like free games. Amateur Surgeon Christmas Edition is all of the above.
The premise takes place 10 years after the original Amateur Surgeon game. Dr. Alan Probe (note that "Alan" is an anagram of "Anal"), now a practicing surgeon, is flying his jet on Christmas when he crashes into Santa Claus and his sleigh. Miraculously, he survives unscathed. The sleigh does not. In his effort to save Christmas, he must perform surgery on an elf, a reindeer, and Santa himself.
The game is like the board game Operation, but on drugs. There is various Christmas-related fragments buried in the flesh of the crash survivors and Dr. Probe has to remove them with whatever tools are on hand (such as a toy grabber device and scotch tape to close the wounds). As with the board game, it takes a steady hand. Naturally, if you don’t successfully remove the foreign objects from their bodies, the characters die and you’ll have ruined Christmas.
There is a cute video in the beginning of the app to explain how the situation came about and the reactions of the Christmas characters as you operate had me in stitches as well as them.
No iPhone or iPod Touch should be without this one, particularly if the device is owned by a sicko. I rarely give out five stars to a game, but this one is so perfect and so wacky and so free, I couldn’t do otherwise.
