Remember my Toca Band review? I concluded that it was a great app but I wished for more customizations and songs. Guess who has made me happy? RokLienz: Rok Out Concert!
To begin with, this is a kids musical app with a rock band of monsters & aliens and four songs are available for your toddler, to remix and mashup. Each toon has an instrument (drums, vocals, lead and bass guitars); place them on the stage and tap to start the music. Make custom covers by playing or muting anyone as and when you want. Also, drag a member to start his prominent solo while others support with chords. No matter what you kid does, the result will be a great variant of the melodious song, and can be recorded to the camera roll as well.
In addition to the four free members, four new ones can be unlocked for $2.99 and you’ll have another vocal, a trumpet, a keyboard and a keytar. Each character further has plenty of customizations like colored instruments, goggles, masks, bandannas and mikes, so that the band always sparks a trend. Kids love to dress up the aliens and the final rock concert will surely get them singing.
The crudely drawn animations are appealing to the under 10s and the occasional comments in the background makes the interface engaging. The simplest controls, colorful animations and the availability of many songs surely meets the recipe for a children’s hit.
