Score! is a soccer game with no analogs in the App Store. Mind you, I’ve read this phrase countless times and this is one of the few times I’ve actually felt like it.
In Score! you have to relive special moments in international soccer games. You’ll make the pass and curl the shot, emulating the greats in their international appearences, spanning 4 decades: 2000, 1990, 1980 and 1970. You’ll play like Iniesta scoring the winning World Championship goal in 2010, or the amazing curler that left Barthez sitting for the Brazil-France in 1997.
Although this is a soccer game, it is classified (correctly so) as a puzzle game. After all, time freezes before each pass or shot and all plays are set. You only need to follow the script. The game uses FirstTouch’s (formerly Exient, unless I’m mistaken) engine, also seen in First Touch Soccer and Dream Team League soccer. It’s not the best engine (FIFA 2012 is better,) but for this particular game it works wonders. It also works in iPhone and iPad, since it is a universal app.
The game has 3 difficulty levels, and before getting to the next one you’ll need to beat the four decades in the previous level. In the first you only need to adjust the trajectory of the shot. In the intermediate level you’ll also adjust the shot power and in the last (bonus) level, you’ll be able to finish as you wish (well, kind of: scoring a curler in the opposite side is almost impossible).
The game is less than a dollar and will keep you entertained for quite a few hours. A good buy!
In short: Score! is a good, entertaining and original game for soccer lovers.
