This is not your average racing game. With a totally unique and original control system, Slingshot Racing takes quite a while to get used to but is definitely a challenging and refreshing alternative to the massive amounts of racing games out there on the app store.
As per the game title suggests, Slingshot Racing involves racing through slinging your vehicle around the race track. This means saying goodbye to the cliché accelerate and decelerate buttons, as well as navigational joysticks or d-pads. Instead, spinning towers pepper the race tracks and players maneuver their vehicles by latching onto said towers and letting go of them at manually timed intervals. This is done via a one-touch control system, whereby tapping and holding on to the screen sends a grappling hook out and letting go releases the hook.
The graphics and sound effects of Slingshot Racing matches up to the great and innovative game play. While the 3D graphics are not particularly stunning, they still render the races clearly and smoothly. The sound effects simulate an actual race, with the not so faint humming noise reminiscent of Formula 1 cars.
As far as variety is concerned, Slingshot Racing has many different modes to entertain players. Examples include escaping from a chomper machine before it destroys you, and collecting cogs spread across the tarmac amidst other things.
For $2.99, Slingshot Racing leans a little towards the more expensive side but is still worth the download. With such a creative gameplay system, Slingshot Racing is unlike any other racing game out there and while the game is difficult to learn at first, it becomes extremely addictive once you attain mastery over the controls.

Career mode features 64 races with different objectives and settings. Take part in a simple straight race to the top spot on the podium. The pickups race pits you against the clock to collect all the cogs on the track as quickly as possible. The time trials offer you the chance to shave all important seconds and compare your times with others on the Game Center leaderboards. Alternatively prove your mettle by taking on the fearsome chomper as it hunts you around the track.
With 4 way multiplayer you can race family or friends on just a single device. With just a few clicks you can create mini tournaments the way you like or just mix it up with a quick random selection.
