User Rating:I have a niece and two nephews all under the age of eight and I’m absolutely certain that they would be delighted to play with any application on my iPod Touch that had SpongeBob Squarepants on it. The quality of the application wouldn’t matter to them. Since the application is free in the App Store, I doubt the quality of the application would matter to many people.
SpongeBob Tickler Lite is cute. If you touch different areas of his body, he does different things. Touch his eye to make him wink. Touch his mouth to make him talk (actually, he seems to talk no matter where you touch him). Touch the water to create bubbles. It also does some other cute tricks and his cat-snail appears when you shake the device around.
You can also change SpongeBob’s location if you tap the "i" in the lower corner. If you take him to the Dance Room and tap the correct area, he dances.
To make the game somewhat annoying, the creators have him talk even when nothing happens to him for a few seconds. He gives an annoying "Helloooooooo" whine that actually makes me wish that the application included beating the crap out of him. Or at least that it came with a mute button.
The full version of the application costs $1.99 and comes with different characters and games (although I’m not sure about the mute button). Based on the annoyance I found in this version, I think I’ll pass.
Pros: cuteness factor. Like having a SpongeBob virtual pet.
Cons: annoying. Too loud. Doesn’t really do much.
